I started to use a Gegen style because of a board club culture of "play high tempo pressing football", and took inspiration from this The Byline article. It uses a back 4, with the FB on the right being more defensively, and a free attacking WB on the left. The midfield trio needs to be good in closing down and tackling. The MAC shines with good off the ball movement, scoring goals and giving assists. The double in front normally needs a holder(DLF) and a quick, good finisher AF.
