When you think of Football Manager 2011 and 2012, Bryan Rabello may come to mind. This young Chilean football player was touted to be the next big thing with his creative skills and midfield ability. Somehow sadly, this young wonderkid was unable to replicate his success within Football Manager in real life and has drifted to the sidelines.
Bryan Rabello was born in Rancagua Chile on the 16th of May 1994. Early on the young Chilean displayed talent and at the age of 15, Rabello made his first competitive team debut for Colo-Colo in the 36th minute as a substitute for Charles Aránguis in what ended as a 1-0 away victory in the Copa Chile in 2009. Rabello was given another chance to shine and debuted at home in the next season in another Copa Chile game. He played as a substitute in another 4-2 victory, this time against Curicó Unido. Rabello had seemingly impressed the coach and it was announced that Rabello would make his first start in a league game against Unión Española. Rabello was able to secure his Copa Sudamericana debut near the end of 2010 when he again came on as a substitute in yet another victory, this time at home at Estadio Monumental.
Rabello was handed some luck when the Colombian playmaker Macnelly Torres picked up an injury and coach Diego Cagna decided to start Rabello during the clubs' last games of the season. Rabello played an impressive performance, showcasing what he was able to do and captured the attention of many European clubs. In December 2010, Rabello picked up his first goal for the Cacique in the 50th minute of a 4-2 home victory at the 2010 Chilean Primera División.
Rabello was able to pick up the tag of being one of the finest talents in South American football with his talent. Many clubs were interested in the young Chilean when transfers came around but Sevilla were quick on their feet and managed to snap up Rabello on a free transfer. Rabello began to play on the reserve team Sevilla Atlètico. He picked up his first-team debut in a pre-season match against UD Roteña and made his first official first-team debut at the beginning of December 2012. Rabello came on as a substitute replacing Cicinho in the 27th minute against Real Valladolid in La-Liga. Rabello was able to pick up 27 appearances and 2 goals for Sevilla between 2012 and 2013.
Rabello continued to play for Sevilla before being loaned out to Deportivo La Coruña in 2014. This was followed by several other loans until his move to Santos Laguna in 2015. The young Chilean made lots of appearances for his new team, a total of 47, with 5 goals scored over the 2 years.
Rabello bounced around on loan and on short contracts, unable to hold down anywhere for long. This once brimming with talent young man had managed to slip through at every opportunity and never quite lived up to the hype surrounding him. Rabello currently plays for Unión Española after transferring there in August 2021 where he currently plays as an attacking midfielder. At the age of 28, it seems the highlights of Rabello’s career have already happened and this is as good as it’s going to get for the once creative midfielder.
